I highly recommend Comedysportz Chicago at 929 W. Belmont. The main shows are done in the short improv games style popularized on Whose Line Is It Anyway? The main shows are family friendly and tickets can often be found on hottix.org at a discount. If you are looking to take improv performance classes, Comedysportz is a great place to start. The beginning class has a mix of people, from those who want to pursue it professionally and those who just want to have a fun experience. The instructors are great and encouraging and I met an awesome group of people. Also, one of the great things about their classes is that after every level (six week class), the class gets to perform together in front of an audience of their friends and family on the main Comedysportz stage. Most improv classes make you go through multiple levels before you get to perform in front of an audience. It’s an experience that is exciting, fun, a little scary, and ultimately something you will remember as a big highlight in your life.
